Niclas_sw

P. Niclas Broer, M.D., Ph.D.

received his M.D. from the Technical University Munich and subsequently completed a combined plastic surgery residency (Yale Medical School), followed by a specialized fellowship in micro-reconstructive surgery (New York University) . Dr. Broer and is certified by the German-, European-, and U.S.- (ABPLS) boards of plastic and reconstructive surgery. He currently holds a position as attending at the Department for Plastic, Reconstructive, Hand-, and Burn Surgery at the Academic Teaching Hospital of the Technical University Munich. Dr. Broer is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a Fellow of the European Board of Plastic Surgery (FEBOPRAS), an Associate Surgeon in low- and middle income countries with Interplast South, and a lecturer in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the Technical University Munich.

Magdalena Gruendl, MPH

is a medical student in Freiburg and a PhD student in Epidemiology in Munich who is currently doing research in Boston at the Department of Global Surgery and Social Change and in Rwanda focusing on Global Surgery and Surgical Site Infection.

Paul I. Heidekrueger, M.D.

received his M.D. from the Technical University Munich and completed a plastic surgery residency at the Academic Teaching Hospital Bogenhausen, Germany. Dr. Heidekrueger is a board-certified plastic surgeon and currently holds a position as a research fellow at the University Medical Centre of Plastic, Aesthetic, Hand and Reconstructive Surgery Regensburg, Germany. He is an associate Surgeon of INTERPLAST Germany and a lecturer in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the Technical University Munich and University of Regensburg. His academic career focuses on surgical training in low- and middle-income countries, with a specific interest in reconstructive surgery.

Sabrina Juran, Ph.D.

works as Technical Specialist for Data and Population Analysis at the United Nations Population Fund.  During her career at the Fund, Dr. Juran has worked in all the major areas of population research, spanning the field of sociology, demography and public health, covering the analysis of international migration, ageing and sustainable development and population and poverty issues, including linkages between population dynamics, poverty and sexual and reproductive health. Dr. Juran has a M.Sc. in Social Sciences and a Ph.D. in Sociology from Humboldt University, Berlin. With a passion for sustainable development and global health, she specializes in empirical social sciences, social medicine, demography and other developmental and humanitarian topics.

Hanna Kaade,  M.D.

is a Syrian Medical Doctor. Dr. Kaade moved to Germany in July 2016 to pursue the continuation of his residency in general surgery; he had previously  finalized the first two years of his residency in Aleppo, Syria.  Dr Kaade has volunteered with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent for more than 10 years (National First Aid Committee Member, First Aid and Clinics Coordinator) and  worked with the World Health Organization as a Public Health Officer in Syria from 2013 to 2016. Dr. Kaade has a passion for humanitarian work especially as it impacts health care.  Based on his experiences in surgery and public health, Dr. Kaade is very interested in advancing the mandate of Global Surgery.
